Briarwood Church

BTS and Briarwood Presbyterian Church

Birmingham Theological Seminary functions in a voluntary accountability relationship with Briarwood Presbyterian Church. BTS is an independent 501c3 but submits itself to the accountability of the session of Briarwood Presbyterian Church as one of its Board Directed Ministries.

We do so for the following reasons:

1. Direct accountability with the local church
2. Briarwood was one of our two founding churches through Dr. Frank Barker.
3. Local theological, fiscal, ethical, and operational accountability structure.

In addition, BTS has voluntarily submitted to Briarwood to allow Briarwood Presbyterian Church to be the final authority on approving recommended board members for the seminary on an annual basis (Oct-Dec Briarwood Board meetings).
