Church Planting Track in Master of Divinity at BTS

The Church Planting track within the Master of Divinity program at Birmingham Theological Seminary is specially designed for individuals with a passion for initiating and nurturing church growth. This comprehensive 102-credit hour program combines both practical and theological training, crucial for effective church planting and revitalization.

Core Curriculum and Theological Foundation

The core curriculum of this track includes:

  • M.Div. Core: In-depth classes in Biblical Theology, Systematic Theology, Historical Theology, and Pastoral Studies.
  • Biblical and Theological Studies: A firm foundation in scripture and Reformed, confessional theology.
  • Practical Ministry Skills: Training in preaching, worship leadership, and church administration.
Specialization in Church Planting and Growth

Specialized training involves:

  • Church Planting Strategies: Courses focusing on effective models for church startups, including fundraising and financial development.
  • Leadership and Administration: Developing skills in leadership, evangelism, discipleship, conflict resolution, and church administration.
  • Mentored Experience: A mandatory one-year mentorship with an experienced and successful church planter.
