Briarwood Church
Birmingham Theological Seminary functions in a voluntary accountability relationship with Briarwood Presbyterian Church. BTS is an independent 501c3 but submits itself to the accountability of the session of Briarwood Presbyterian Church as one of its Board Directed Ministries.
We do so for the following reasons:
1. Direct accountability with the local church.
2. Briarwood was one of our two founding churches through Dr. Frank Barker.
3. Local theological, fiscal, ethical, and operational accountability structure.
Thirdmill Institute
Third Millennium Ministries provides free theological education worldwide. BTS and Thirdmill have worked together for over 20 years to provide free education to students around the world, most recently in our online Certificate of Christian Ministry program.
Unbound216
UnBound216 is a faith-based transitional care ministry designed to prepare inmates for release by helping them discover their God-given purpose. BTS Bibb County graduates are team leaders for Unbound216 participants.
Ezra Worship Initiative
The Ezra Worship Initiative is a paid summer worship internship for college-aged students interested in bi-vocational or full-time music and worship leadership. The mission of Ezra is to develop musically gifted individuals into leaders who can serve with the pastor to shepherd the church in rich congregational worship.
Ezra Worship Initiative students complete four courses during the summer to earn a Certificate of Worship Studies from BTS.
Ligonier Ministries
Ligonier Ministries, founded by R.C. Sproul, exists to proclaim, teach, and defend the holiness of God in all its fullness to as many people as possible. BTS works directly with Ligonier Ministries in our Prison Initiative, utilizing Ligonier resources for BTS learners inside prison and BTS Bibb Correctional graduates lead the only Ligonier Certificate training program inside a prison out of over 800 prisons where Ligonier participates in providing resources.
Reformation Bible College
BTS offers a dual credit agreement program with Reformation Bible College (a ministry of Ligonier) for graduates with degrees in Biblical Studies to help jump-start their seminary studies, if applied within five years of graduating from RBC.
Covenant College
BTS offers a dual credit agreement program with Covenant College (the college of the PCA) for graduates with degrees in Biblical Studies (other degrees with direct approval of the Academic Affairs Team) to help jump-start their seminary studies, if applied within five years of graduating from Covenant College.
Samford University
Samford is a leading nationally ranked Christian university renowned for excellence, small enough to foster intentional connections, big enough to offer robust opportunities and committed to cultivating students’ foundational faith.
Residential BTS students are allowed to use the Samford Library for study and research.
